It's Bigger, It's Gayer...It's on DVD!
The Complete Unrated Second Season of The Big Gay Sketch Show is available on DVD April 29th! All of your favorite Big Gay characters are joined by guest stars Christine Ebersole, Elaine Stritch, Chastity Bono, and more! The DVD is jam-packed with special features, including: Celesbian Interviews with Julie Goldman and Kate McKinnon, 10 extra sketches not shown on TV, and Big Gay Bloopers. For over eighteen years a small but passionately dedicated group of volunteers has fought intolerance and homophobia by visibly providing news and information about and for the gay and lesbian community of New Mexico and West Texas through the Southwest LGBT Press (formerly The Normal Heart). We have made tremendous progress and New Mexico is now one of the friendliest states in the country to GLBT people.

Normal Heart Community Ventures now wants to use our experience to expand the GLBT community’s access to information. New Mexico and West Texas is a rural state and we cannot deliver our free publication everywhere. Our more isolated brothers and sisters need additional methods of access. We have the technology to reach out, we have people with the knowledge and skills to create podcasts, cable TV or radio programs. What we desparately need is your support and donations to make exciting new things happen.

Normal Heart Community Ventures would use our educational and informational assets to impact important GLBT issues like substance abuse, domestic violence, suicide and HIV/AIDS. NHCV plans to create awareness programs of its own and collaborating with existing organizations to create the best results for New Mexico and West Texas.

We are a tiny non-profit with huge ideas and dreams. What would it mean for New Mexico and West Texas if we could bring together the GLBT organizations of the Southwest at a summit to learn best practices to apply here? This is just one of the big ideas we could make happen with your support.

As a community organization everything we have accomplished has been done by you, the community. You write and publish the oldest GLBT publication in New Mexico and West Texas, the only non-profit one.

You will make the next generation Normal Heart Community Ventures a hugely impactful, grassroots community creating positive change.

We are blogging at Pride Week - Stay tuned from The Normal Heart Community Ventures

START OFF PRIDE WEEKEND in Las Cruces with a relaxing meal with old friends and make some new ones. Thursday evening, June 19, at Lorenzo's in the Mercado off of Avenida de Mesilla at 6:30 pm. Pasta and a glass of chianti, or share a pizza with a friend. Order what you want, and pay for what you get, then add in a $10 additional "tip" to support Normal Heart Community Ventures and the Southwest LBGT Press. You may win the free dessert raffle.

The Southern New Mexico Pride Committee is pleased to announce the theme for its 19th annual Pride Parade and Picnic: LOVE KNOWS NO BORDERS.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Pioneer Women’s Park, 500 West Las Cruces Avenue.

The annual celebration for lesbian, gay, transgendered, bisexual, and questioning community members along with their heterosexual allies will include food, information, entertainment, and fun. A lively parade, booths sponsored by local vendors and community organizations, and a special play area for children are planned.

Albuquerque Pridefest 2008 will be held at the Expo New Mexico Fairgrounds at the corner of Central and San Pedro on June 13 - 14, 2008. There are lots of things to do so take a look at the highlights of the weekend.

Friday night from 6:00pm - 10:00pm includes food and vendors, pet parade, Art Show Opening and VIP Reception, our Friday headliner performer (to be announced soon) and our Pride Idol competition.

Vendors and information booths will be out in force at Pridefest on Saturday, June 14 from 11:00am - 10:00pm. See Appearing at Pride for more information and come check out the art show, pride history archives, Pride theater, car show, youth and family areas as well.
